Like a theatrical script, my paintings present the outline of a story. Our present day concerns have their roots in the voices of civilisations past. History repeats itself, but the scenery and characters have been recast. In the course of creating, I choose various images and focus on the ties binding them together. When I sense a rapport, I establish a dialogue between my characters and myself. I give them a common backdrop, allowing them to act out their stories and letting us enter their universe.
